Gerlen sealing tape: characteristics and scope of application

Insulating material in the form of tape was used relatively recently. However, over a short period of time, this type of sealant has proven itself from the best side and has been widely used. The undeniable advantages of the sealing tape "Gerlen" make it indispensable in various sectors of life.

The sealing tape "Gerlen" is made from synthetic rubber. The material has a uniform elastic surface, which from the inside is reliably protected from the penetration of liquid, air, and from the outside it has good air exchange. It is sold in the form of tape rolls.

The sealing tape "Gerlen" has the following technical characteristics:

• high adhesion to metal surfaces, as well as with any building materials;
• good waterproofing;

• long service life - the tape can retain its operational properties for 20 years and longer;
• has thermal insulation properties;
• provides good noise insulation;
• increases vibration isolation;
• can be operated at temperatures from 60 degrees below zero to +140 degrees and even higher;
• it is easy to use.

The use of tape does not require much effort, but to obtain a high-quality result it is necessary to follow a number of rules.

• Before starting work, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the connecting surfaces. It is necessary to remove dirt, dust, particles of paint and grease.
• When gluing the tape, it is important to ensure that there are no wrinkles or blistering surfaces.
• Works should be performed at ambient temperature not less than 10 degrees below zero. If the tape was stored for a long time at a lower temperature, then before use it must be held at room temperature for a day.

It should be remembered that the sealing tape should be stored in a dry place. For most types of stamps, this period is one year; however, there are types that are stored for only 6 months.Self-adhesive tape has been widely used in the construction, automotive and aviation industries, as well as in everyday life. With the help of a sealant, the joining surfaces are insulated, the construction joints are sealed, and the window openings are warmed.

Depending on the type of work, one or another type of brand is applied.

• “Gerlen AG”. This material is black in color and is used to isolate the butt surfaces of sheet skins. With the help of tape, you can mount rubber surfaces on car parts. Sealant is also used when installing partitions, flooring roof panels.
• "Gerlen T". This material has a light brown tint; it is used as a waterproofing for the docking surfaces of water conduit pipes, tunnel beams, transport structures, and walls. Sealant is also used to isolate seams, cracked cavities, roofing surfaces. This type of tape can be used for bonding concrete coatings, for insulating glass packs.
• "Gerlen D". This material has a light brown tint. Sealant is used to isolate joining surfaces, seams, cracks.With it, you can also effectively produce insulation of glass, walls. This type of material is mainly used in the repair and construction of industrial or civil buildings.

• "Gerlen OSB". This material has a light brown tint. This type of tape is used to prevent moisture from entering the window joining surfaces. Due to the presence on the surface of a special type of non-woven coating, self-adhesive tape provides reliable protection of joints from destruction.
• "Gerlen OSV". This material has a grayish tint. A distinctive feature of this tape sealant is the lack of release of harmful chemicals into the environment, thereby not having a detrimental effect on the human body. Insulating tape does not pass water, but is unstable to the effects of steam. It is used to isolate windows, balcony doors.
• "Gerlen UT". This material is represented by a light brown tint. This type of tape sealant is designed to operate at high temperatures, so it is used to isolate the mating surfaces in the aviation industry,and in other areas where high temperature conditions are observed.

• "Gerlen FAP" has a light brown tint. This type of sealant is used for insulation, cracks, seams, docking surfaces of metal, concrete, brick, stone and glass. The tape has excellent vapor barrier properties. It is used to seal glass, repair of roofing damage, chimney pipes.
• "Gerlen D (F)". This material has a light brown tint. Sealant has good heat-reflecting properties, so it is used in construction. The tape also perfectly absorbs noise.
• "Gerlen D (I)" has a light brown tint. The sealant has good thermal insulation properties. It is also able to absorb noise effectively.
